Presentation
At the turn of the 17th century, German composers turned to Venice for inspiration. Spatial audacity, the technique of ‘cori spezzati’ and the genius of Italian polychoral music revolutionised Lutheran music at the time. However, the Thirty Years’ War brought about a radical change: musical expression became more intimate, giving rise to the famous ‘kleine geistliche Konzerte’, direct heirs to the Italian motet for voices and basso continuo.
Conceived as a true ecumenical Lutheran Vespers service, this exceptional programme brings together the greatest masters of the Baroque era:
* The German masters: Praetorius, Schütz, Scheidt.
* The Italian masters: Monteverdi, Cavalli.
Through a subtle interplay of echoes and alternations, the polyphonic texture transforms into a jubilant sound, a sensual and vibrant outpouring. This concert is a fascinating immersion in the artistic fusion that shaped European musical identity. Come and rediscover these masterful works where sonic architecture meets pure emotion.
