Opera in five acts with libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, based on the eponymous legend and Goethe's play, premiered at the Théâtre-Lyrique in 1859.

Tarare is a lyric tragedy comprising a prologue and five acts, composed by Antonio Salieri to a French libretto by one of the most famous French playwrights of the time: Beaumarchais.
