During the reign of the young Sun King, dance and music played a central role in court life.

Passionate about these arts, Louis XIV surrounded himself with exceptional talent, including Jean-Baptiste Lully, his loyal collaborator on the court ballets. The meeting between Lully and Molière gave rise to a new genre: the comedy-ballet, in which theatre, music, song and dance blend together brilliantly. For over a decade, these works enchanted the king and his court, offering performances of remarkable inventiveness and richness. This concert invites you to rediscover the finest musical pieces from these comédie-ballets, performed with enthusiasm and virtuosity by the singers of the Académie de l’Opéra Royal.

A festive journey to the heart of the Grand Siècle, to meet two geniuses who left an indelible mark on the history of French theatre.
