As part of the Royal Opera Academy’s Gala Concert, you will have the opportunity to see a staged opera centred on the comédies-ballets created by Molière and Lully.

The first part of the opera will take place in the Royal Chapel and will then continue in the Hall of Mirrors with the famous *L’Amour médecin* and *Le Bourgeois gentilhomme*.

Love the Doctor
To cure his daughter Lucinde of a feigned bout of melancholy, Sganarelle calls upon incompetent doctors and quacks. Taking advantage of the commotion, her lover Clitandre sneaks into their home disguised as a doctor and manages to marry her through a ruse.

The Bourgeois Gentleman
Monsieur Jourdain, a wealthy but naïve bourgeois, goes to great lengths to imitate the manners of the nobility by hiring a succession of tutors and adopting ever-grander pretensions. Manipulated by opportunists, he is made a laughing stock, to the point of granting his daughter’s hand in marriage to the young Cléonte, who is disguised for the occasion as the son of the Grand Turk.
