Discover the King’s Kitchen Garden through an immersive guided tour in the heart of an exceptional site, where heritage, nature and horticultural expertise have flourished for more than three centuries.
Explore the King’s Kitchen Garden, a jewel of Versailles heritage created between 1678 and 1683 at the request of Louis XIV. Located just a short walk from the Palace, this remarkable garden is a unique example of the French productive garden during the Baroque era.
Originally designed to supply the royal table with exceptional fruits and vegetables, the King’s Kitchen Garden has always been a place of experimentation, innovation and the transmission of horticultural know-how. Throughout the guided tour, discover the fascinating history of this emblematic site, the art of pruning and training fruit trees into espalier and counter-espalier forms, and the daily work of the gardeners who continue these ancestral traditions.
Today, the garden remains a vibrant and productive place where vegetables, aromatic plants and nearly 4,000 fruit trees are cultivated. A visit combining history, nature and horticultural excellence in the heart of a living heritage site.
