This month, Cool Beans brings you AlexFlex78: a graffiti artist. Come and meet him at his launch event here!
"I salvage forgotten paintings—those left behind in bulky waste collections or found at the back of recycling centres—images that nobody really looked at anymore. Where some people see an old, worthless frame, I already see a new story to tell.
Using spray paint, Molotow pens and Posca markers, I transform these old works into a blend of street art, Art Nouveau, graffiti and urban illustration. Animals, portraits of women and hybrid visuals are then brought back to life through bright, contrasting colours, which have become the signature of my world.
I love the idea that a canvas can be reborn in a different form, retaining its memory whilst becoming something new, something freer, with all the flexibility of my art.”
