Created in 2023, the Académie de l'Opéra Royal aims to train and support young singers and instrumentalists specialising in baroque music, and in particular the specific style of French music of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Masterclasses and professional experiences are offered, supervised by the best artists who regularly perform at Versailles. For this first class, a ‘royal’ version of Purcell's famous Dido and Aeneas will be staged in the Hall of Mirrors, giving these young artists the chance to perform at their very best!
Opera in three acts to a libretto by Nahum Tate, first performed in London in 1689.
