History of the Little Venice enclosure:
Created in 1694, two years after the opening of the Grand Canal, this complex was intended to house the shipbuilding sheds.
War ships from Marseille or Le Havre were assembled here, alongside a more recreational fleet.
Indeed, the royal promenades were carried out in gondolas imported from Venice, reflecting the court's fascination with the City of the Doges.
The site of Little Venice, where the Versailles sailors' guild was housed, was dissolved after the Revolution and transformed into stables under Louis-Philippe.
Classified as a historical monument, the restaurant La Petite Venise has now regained the spirit and soul of its first occupants by transforming itself into a chic and elegant trattoria with a festive and relaxed atmosphere. Italian cuisine with a wide choice of traditional recipes to be enjoyed after an aperitivo or a spritz ordered at the bar.
Something to delight families, lovers of Versailles, and those who like a little secret place...
Our restaurant has a main reception room, but also a lounge with its privatized terrace, for your private or professional festivities. Our sales team is at your disposal to take care of the organisation of your event from A to Z. "
Good tips: In summer, the shaded terrace of La Petite Venise is an ideal place to share a lunch with friends.
