Presentation

Celebrate the European Heritage Days with a guided tour of Espace Richaud. Discover how this remarkable 18th-century royal hospital became one of Versailles' leading cultural landmarks.
Take advantage of the European Heritage Days to discover the remarkable history of Espace Richaud, one of Versailles' most significant historic buildings.

Guided by a cultural mediator, you will explore the evolution of this former royal hospital, built in the 18th century by architect Charles-François Darnaudin. Learn about its architectural heritage, its role in the city's healthcare history and the major restoration project that transformed it into a vibrant cultural venue.

Following the theme "Heritage at Risk: Revive, Resist, Reimagine," the tour highlights the building's journey from a thriving hospital to years of abandonment, before its ambitious rehabilitation restored it to public life.

Visitors will also enjoy exceptional access to the former chapel of the Sisters of Saint Vincent de Paul, opened especially for the occasion by the Academy of Moral and Political Sciences and Letters.

The visit concludes with a short film presenting the history of the hospital and the extensive restoration work carried out to preserve this architectural treasure.

An inspiring opportunity to discover how heritage can be protected, reinvented and shared with future generations.
